Greenbelts small dog/cat collarLife has been very crazy around here -hence the dearth of posts.  (We suddenly got a wild hair to try to put our very old, filled with half finished projects, house on the market.  This was not the best idea!)  So I was very excited when my job was made easier by the artists from 2ReVert.  They suggested I take a look at the recycling artist at Greenbelts.

Greenbelts is the brain child of  Shannon Ritscher, a former graphic designer and now full time stay at home mom.  Greenbelts started with Shannon creating her treasures for her friends and family from recycled buttons, belts and other scrap materials.  She quickly realized there is a wide market for her creations and Greenbelts was born.  She crafts one of a kind pet collars, leather cuffs and rings made from recycled materials.  Even her neighbors have gotten involved in her recycling efforts, often bringing old belts to her front door.

Take a look at this dog collar on the left made from a recycled belt and then studded with handcut flowers fashioned from scrap leather.  I love the added sparkle provided by the pink rhinestone rivets.

Shannon urges you to REclaimed ring“Think good green thoughts” while wearing this funky, colorful ring made from scrap leather and vintage buttons.  The bright, fun colors and the flower motif make it perfect for spring! Shannon has over 100 items in her etsy store so checkout her out to find the perfect recycled leather item for you or your furry pal!!
